How it works

Lodge tools: the Table Planner

  • Place cards, table lists and "find your seat"
  • Numbers and dietary needs for the caterer
  • Guests' details kept private and safe

Try it yourself. A demo with made-up people, on a tablet or computer: move them around, seat the top table and sprigs, choose the food. Nothing is saved and printing is switched off.

How it works

From first questions to going live

No technical knowledge needed. Lodge websites need their Province's approval before they go live, so we've built that step in.

Stage 1

Make it

  1. Answer a few questions

Your lodge's name and number, where and when you meet, and what makes your lodge yours.

  2. Choose a design

Pick the look you like. You can change it later.

  3. Check the wording

Our AI drafts the text from your answers. Change anything you like.

Stage 2

Province approval

  1. Publish privately

Your website goes online hidden from search engines, with a private link.

  2. Send it to your Province

Send them the private link for approval, and make any changes they ask for.

  3. Add the approval badge

Add the badge your Province gives you once they've approved it.

Stage 3

Go live

  1. Go live

Your website opens to everyone and search engines can find it. Update it whenever you like.

Included

Included with your website

All in the one yearly price. The only extra is your own web address, if you'd like one.

An email address for your lodge

For example, hello@yourlodge.org. Emails sent to it are passed on to your Secretary, or to two or three people you choose. It can't send emails, but it receives them and forwards them.

A free web address

Like alliance.lodgesites.org.uk, if you don't want a web address of your own.

Your own web address

If you'd like one, like lodgeofharmony.org.uk: about £10 a year, at cost plus a small fee. We buy it for you and look after it. Already have one? You can keep it.

A monthly allowance of AI help

For changes to your website, included in the price: enough for everyday changes. Anything you don't use carries over for up to 2 months. If you ever need more, top-up packs are available.

Choosing your own web address

Want to know if the name you'd like is free? Email us at web@lodgeofalliance.org and we'll check it for you.

Who makes it

Made by a Freemason, for lodges

Built by Andy Sones of Lodge of Alliance No. 5811.

Asking around, I found many lodges paying far too much each year for their websites and domains. My aim is to keep running costs as low as possible, so lodges can put more of their money towards charitable giving.

Questions

Questions lodges ask

Is it really £24?

Yes. £24 a year — that's £2 a month — for your lodge's website and all the tools, whatever the size of your lodge. There's no charge per person.

That includes an email address for your lodge, a free web address and a monthly allowance of AI help for changes. The only extra is your own web address, if you want one: about £10 a year, at cost plus a small fee. And while we're testing, it's all free.

Does our Province need to approve it?

Yes. Lodge websites must be approved by their Province before they go live, and we build that step in.

Your website is first published privately: hidden from search engines, with a private link you send to your Province. Make any changes they ask for, add the approval badge they give you, and then go live.

What about our existing website or domain?

If your lodge already has a web address, you can keep it: we'll help you point it at your new website. Or we can buy a new one for you and look after it, or you can use a free web address from us.

Happy with the website you have? You can still use the Table Planner and the other tools. The price is the same.

When is our web address renewed?

Once a year, and only once your lodge's yearly payment has been made.

Can our lodge email address send emails?

No. It receives emails and forwards them to your Secretary, or to two or three people you choose. They reply from their own email as usual.

Who can see our data?

Only the people your lodge invites, each with just the access you give them. Guests' details, including dietary needs, are encrypted on our UK server.

We never sell or share your lodge's information. Our site support can look only to help you, and each time is recorded. See our privacy notice.

Can we leave?

Yes, whenever you like. Download your seating plans and your lodge's information at any time.

When you leave, we keep your website and web address for 14 days, and then remove them. While you're with us, we register and look after your web address; we don't renew it after you leave.

Do we need someone technical?

No. Everything is in plain English and works on an iPad or a computer. If you get stuck, email us at web@lodgeofalliance.org.

How do we join?

We're testing with a small number of lodges first, by invitation. Ask for an invitation and we'll be in touch.

Another question? Email web@lodgeofalliance.org. We aim to reply within 2 working days.
